AT&T's Energy Savings through IoT: A Case Study
AT&T, the largest provider of fixed telephone service in the United States, was committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 20 percent by 2020. In 2013, the company's energy team decided to optimize the energy performance across 1,000 of their largest energy-consuming sites and 500 of their retail sites. The challenge was to find an intelligent way to lower energy consumption using advanced technology. The company was looking for a solution that could be integrated into their existing infrastructure and could be expanded to other areas of facilities control, such as HVAC and building security in the future.
Agilent Technologies: A Case Study on Energy Efficiency through IoT
Agilent Technologies, a leading American public research, development, and manufacturing company, was seeking ways to reduce its energy and water consumption to lower its environmental footprint and operating and maintenance costs. The company identified lighting as a significant area where immediate savings could be achieved. The existing lighting system was inefficient, often leaving all 50,000 square feet of lights on unnecessarily, leading to significant energy wastage. The company was also looking to reduce its operating expenses and meet sustainability targets. The challenge was to find a solution that would provide complete control over the lighting systems at their facility, reduce energy consumption, and offer flexibility in programming.
Veeco Services: IoT-Enabled Lighting Retrofit Reduces Energy Costs by 75%
Veeco Services, a full-service logistics provider, was facing significant challenges with its warehouse lighting system. A lighting audit conducted in January 2019 revealed that the high-intensity discharge (HID) fixtures lighting Veeco’s 615,000 square feet warehouse were inefficient, costly to maintain, and emitted poor levels of lighting. The warehouse, which has 117 dock doors and more than 34,000 pallet locations, had recently upgraded to a new racking system that added more rows and narrow aisles. This change necessitated a revamp and retrofit of the existing HID lighting system to improve safety and efficiency. The challenge was to find a solution that would not only enhance lighting quality but also integrate with IoT technology for real-time adjustments based on environmental and occupancy changes.

EP 168 - What is the workplace of the future - Stefan Schwab, CEO, Enlighted
Monday, Mar 06, 2023

In this episode, we talked with Stefan Schwab, CEO of Enlighted. Enlighted is a leading, human-centered prop-tech provider of IoT solutions for space optimization, building management, business productivity, and sustainability.

In this talk, we discussed the two megatrends that are reshaping the office today, the need for a hybrid workforce and the drive for sustainable building operations. We also talked about the long tail of use cases that leverage sensor data to improve employee productivity, track assets, and improve visibility into operations.

Key Questions:

  • How do you balance the stakeholders' priorities with business sustainability?
  • What are the focus areas in portfolio development for analytics tools?
  • How would you help the company to entice employees to return to the office?
  • What is the future of the workplace that excites you the most?
