The MPA developed a BI environment to present results on-demand through interactive reports and dashboards; using data quality and BI to gather, combine, and leverage information from various applications. The first step was to create a specialized entity called the Public Works Audit and Control Unit (PWACU), which records all types of information, such as the beginning, conclusion, or cancellation of a project. After the creation of the PWACU, the Secretary of Public Affairs integrated other systems to manage the planning, contracting, control, and overseeing of public works and services. The Ministry of Public Administration created the Public Works Intelligent System (PWIS), which covers the different steps in a construction project and is crucial when making management decisions. To catalog and integrate all these existing information and data sources, the team used Information Builders’ iWay DataMigrator and iWay Data Quality Suite.
