Groupe Roullier, a global agribusiness conglomerate, faced significant challenges in managing data from its 130-plus subsidiaries, each with its own ERP system. This created a high degree of complexity, particularly when developing group-wide or multi-entity applications. The company needed a solution to reduce this complexity in its application development process. Additionally, the group had to comply with France’s Transparency, Anti-Corruption, and Economic Modernization Act (Sapin II Act), which requires companies with more than 500 employees and annual sales exceeding €100 million to disclose all third parties they work with globally. Automating the approval process meant interfacing the application with different ERPs across the group’s subsidiaries, adding another layer of complexity.

Groupe Roullier is a global agribusiness conglomerate based in France. The company has over 130 subsidiaries worldwide, each with its own ERP system. The parent company, Compagnie Financière et de Participations Roullier (CFPR), oversees group-wide technology projects and provides ad hoc IT support to its subsidiaries. The company operates in a highly regulated environment and is required to comply with stringent regulations such as France’s Transparency, Anti-Corruption, and Economic Modernization Act (Sapin II Act).

To address these challenges, Groupe Roullier's IT department deployed Nintex K2 Cloud, a Business Process Management (BPM) system, to break down silos between its subsidiaries’ disparate information systems and automate business processes. After a competitive bidding process, Groupe Roullier chose Nintex K2 Five for its ability to support complex processes and interface with a wide range of ERPs via APIs. The group also leveraged Nintex’s digital services partner, Orange Business Services, to develop the complex Roullier Compliance Platform (RCP) application. However, post-deployment, infrastructure constraints caused persistent issues with the applications. To resolve these, Nintex’s French team suggested migrating the applications and workflows to Nintex K2 Cloud. The migration process started in March 2021, beginning with a raw material procurement, sales, and logistics application for an entity that had previously managed everything manually.

The migration to Nintex K2 Cloud resolved all persistent problems and solved latency issues experienced by the group’s entities, especially in Asia. Although there was a slight dip in performance in France, the persistent problems disappeared, and data sharing with entities outside France, particularly in China, improved significantly. The BPM experts at CFPR expressed satisfaction with Nintex K2 Cloud and are planning to further leverage it. They are currently working on a group-wide application for managing goods and services, with support from Orange Business Services due to its complexity. Another application in the pipeline will automatically draft annual contracts for the finance division, drawing on data from a range of IT environments.
