As Banco Interacciones expanded, the board of directors wanted to centralize its monitoring and analysis operations via a web-based portal with an array of next-generation dashboards. Banco Interacciones selected Information Builders’ WebFOCUS BI and analytics platform to handle all the front-end aspects of the Sherpa Project, especially the visual presentation of information through reports and executive dashboards. The bank wanted to empower the management team with detailed knowledge of financial and operational activities, as well as help managers throughout the enterprise to track daily, weekly, and monthly progress towards corporate goals. The bank decided to centralize data monitoring and analysis through a BI portal and a new set of dashboards, but needed a software vendor that would join in the effort as a true business partner. Information Builders rose to the occasion. The development team divided the BI project into three stages: tactical, strategic, and operational. The strategic BI implementation focuses on key performance indicators that help management monitor the corporation, with data rolled up from the bank’s various lines of business. The tactical BI implementation helps departmental mangers assess progress within their respective domains, from government and commercial banking to investment services. The operational BI implementation lets people use an analysis dashboard to pose “what if” queries, drilling down to determine why certain events did or did not occur.
