The organization had recently launched a new product, nano urea, which brought new demands to IFFCO’s cloud computing needs. The organization needed a reliable cloud vendor to support the processes of 6–7 new manufacturing plants during the upcoming year, enhancing its production capability 300–350 million bottles of nano urea to meet increasing demand. IFFCO’s cloud adoption was driven by a need to innovate. The organization wanted capabilities for a dynamic business that can adapt to the changing needs of the market while growing fast. However, it was inhibited by rigid on-premises data center deployments and the overhead of maintaining legacy systems. IFFCO wanted to apply the elasticity and availability of cloud for improving overall performance of applications at lowest possible operational overhead. Lastly, IFFCO needed to provide the benefits of its technology to all its stakeholders, including employees, members, transporters, and farmers, some of whom have limited literacy. To accommodate all stakeholders, IFFCO wanted to add a voice interface to its applications.

Oracle University, a platform that provides proficiency training on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and SaaS applications, faced significant challenges with its underlying database system. The system, which was initially based on AWS and used PostgreSQL, was migrated to OCI in 2018. However, the PostgreSQL system had several shortcomings. Performance optimization was subpar, and building a high-availability (HA) setup required substantial expertise. The system also required additional compute resources, which led to downtime and necessitated the management of the underlying block storage that PostgreSQL used. This resulted in high administrative overhead and required expertise, making the system inefficient and costly to maintain.

Wavenet Technology, a digital marketing company, assists global brands in optimizing their online marketing campaigns using artificial intelligence and big data analytics. Customers access a web dashboard to monitor their campaigns’ performance in real time. However, as the number of simultaneous dashboard queries exceeded one million, the time to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data for the reports became increasingly lengthy. The processing exceeded the capacity of Wavenet Technology’s systems, which were running on AWS Redshift, causing customers to wait several minutes for the systems to respond. This situation began to hinder Wavenet Technology’s business development plans, prompting the company to seek a high-performance, secure, and affordable database that could support its growth targets.

Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), a diversified utilities and energy group with multiple vertically integrated operating units and US$49 billion in assets, was facing several challenges. For over a decade, TAQA had outsourced the management of its critical business processes, run on Oracle E-Business Suite, to Oracle Managed Cloud Services. However, in 2020, the company decided to adopt a multicloud strategy to address key issues. These included the need to improve system availability and reduce outages, enhance security compliance requirements, and implement a disaster recovery site for Oracle E-Business Suite. TAQA, being an Oracle Database, Oracle Middleware, and Oracle applications customer since its inception in 2005, decided to stick with the technology provider it knew best.

Transition Technologies, a Poland-based provider of advanced solutions for the energy, gas, industry 4.0, and bioinformatics markets, faced a significant challenge when a customer requested to use their flagship product, LUXtrade, in the cloud. The company had been implementing LUXtrade on-premises in Europe for almost 20 years and had recently started delivering it as software-as-a-service. However, the request for a cloud-based solution required Transition Technologies to deploy a cloud solution in just six months. This was a daunting task given the complex nature of LUXtrade, which includes features for RES management, algo-trading, forecasting, and data analytics. The company was confident in its ability to meet these targets with Oracle technology, but the short timeline for cloud deployment presented a significant challenge.
