The United States government has revealed that it has detected a rise in cyber criminal attacks on industrial control systems.
People's main concern is that with manufacturers and grid power producers' early adoption of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) or Industry 4.0 sufficient safeguards have not been put in place to protect them from the internet.
Before the digitalization, industrial companies had infrastructure that were securely locked down and not connected or accessible to the outside world. The new age of big data changed all that through cloud storage and internet access.
The following chart will show the top 7 types of cyber attacks in Germany during the year 2015 which will give us a better understanding of what industrial companies are facing in the cyber security sector.
