Operational Impact
The use of RAM Structural System and RAM Concept provided WSP with an integrated BIM solution that allowed them to design an efficient building that was larger and completely different from the original Pinnacle design. The interoperability of RAM technology simplified the complex calculations and structural modeling required for lateral stability and load analyses in both the substructure and superstructure. This ensured effective use of inclined columns to maintain structural integrity. The integration of Bentley technology with Revit and Fabsec provided an intelligent model for accurate 3D visualization, drawing production, and material takeoffs, and accelerated information mobility to meet the imposing deadlines. The final design for 22 Bishopsgate was a structural steel frame that was 15 percent lighter than the Pinnacle design, with an efficient shape housing 30 percent more floor space and designed to achieve an excellent BREEAM rating and promote the health and well-being of its occupants.
Quantitative Benefit
Using RAM enabled WSP to use 100 percent of the existing foundation and salvage 50 percent of the basement for the new design.
Integrating RAM Structural System with Revit saved 40 percent in structural design time.
