The agency had been relying on a legacy Wide-Area Network (WAN) for years for the delivery of high-value streaming video activities. While the WAN provided reliability, it presented long-term issues in terms of maintenance, support, and security. The agency decided to transition their transport video network to a platform running on Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology. The new solution needed to deliver as good, if not better, network and application performance, security, and video monitoring capabilities than the WAN.

The customer is a government agency that provides logistical management for global-scale, high-value transportation services. The agency places a high premium on securing the network, application, and high-fidelity Unified Communications platforms used to deliver streaming video services in low-latency environments. As a result, the agency has designed redundancy throughout data center operations, with primary and secondary data center facilities architected to switch as-needed to failover sites. The agency's effort associated with safely delivering transportation services requires the support of thousands of employees and some 30 global data center locations.

The agency selected the nGeniusONE platform to support their network transformation. The agency installed InfiniStreamNG (ISNG) technology to capture traffic traversing in/out site locations, monitor latency and jitter from site to site, aggregate traffic to multiple monitoring tools, and provide real-time/historical reporting and troubleshooting capability. The ISNG appliances use patented Adaptive Service Intelligence™ (ASI) technology to generate the NETSCOUT “Smart Data” required for end-to-end visibility across their transport video delivery environments. The nGeniusONE platform’s performance analytics leverage this smart data to provide real-time, contextual analysis of service, network, and video application performance. The agency also installed nGenius packet flow switch (PFS) appliances in their data centers and remote locations to aggregate, replicate, and manage the flows of traffic throughout the network.
