SNCF Technicentre protects devices and sensitive proprietary data with Absolute

Jeremy Verrier, IT Manager at the SNCF Technicentre in Nevers, was introduced to Absolute at an industry forum and learned about its endpoint security solutions. Interested in powerful Persistence® technology by Absolute, Verrier decided to install the solution on all new device deployments at the Technicentre in Nevers. Today, it has been deployed to around 150 devices and installation continues as new devices are rolled out. Persistence technology ensures that the Absolute software agent is never removed. The software can survive reinstallation of the operating system, device reformatting, or a hard drive replacement. This means that IT has a constant connection to every device in its deployment, regardless of user or location. The agent itself is virtually undetectable and emits a silent signal to the Absolute Monitoring Centre, which collects information points about the device such as location, user, hardware and software status. IT Administrators can also remotely delete data, recover files and freeze the device, preventing data from falling into the wrong hands. Ease of installation and administration coupled with an affordable license model were also key factors in the decision to install the solution. Another advantage was the ability to deploy Absolute on all types of device models even if the manufacturers are different – this is particularly useful for the Technicentre, which often has to refresh devices.
