Operational Impact
The use of ANSYS Fluent software and the development of a geometric model in AutoCAD allowed Owens Corning to effectively address the challenge of revising insulation performance standards. The software helped in generating a good quality mesh and calculating the solution of the conjugate heat transfer problem. The post-processing evaluation of the overall heat transfer coefficient for these assemblies and the analysis of the dependence of heat transfer coefficient on geometry and materials parameters led to the definition of thermal performance standards for metal building insulation systems. This not only enhanced the company's operational efficiency but also contributed to the overall advancement of the MBI industry. | |
