Scania IT decided to build a new application using IBM® MessageSight, an appliance designed to support secure, low-latency messaging in Internet of Things and mobile environments. The application enables drivers to communicate with fleet owners on the go and warn each other about hazards on the road. Fleet owners can see which drivers are online and their current locations, and communicate any changes in instructions to them swiftly and easily via one-to-one or group conversations. If a driver is unavailable because, for example, the vehicle is in a tunnel, he or she receives a notification that there are new/unread messages waiting to be delivered.
