Radiometer, a pioneer and international market leader for blood gas analyzers, was facing increasing cost pressures and needed to optimize its corporate efficiency. The company was using a complex Excel solution with numerous macros for data evaluation. This procedure was not only error-prone and complex, but it was also difficult to use. In addition, the data volume became too large for such a solution to reliably and quickly handle the evaluations. The company's products are used in the treatment of critically ill patients to diagnose respiratory and metabolic disturbances based on blood gas analysis. Using the oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations in the blood, appropriate therapies can be started immediately, such as mechanical ventilation, adaptation of ventilation parameters, or the administration of drugs. With QlikView Server, Radiometer is now able to handle flexible analysis such as for up-to-date evaluations of profitability by customer, product, or location. The data for analyses of customer sales over time, plan/actual comparisons and period comparisons, and trend reports are evaluated in a way that is up-to-date for that same day. If we add the costs saved for a large data warehouse project, the great flexibility in the response to new demands and the minimal training requirements, the added value of the solution quickly takes on a whole new meaning.
