Pronovias Group, a global business group that designs, manufactures, and sells wedding dresses and evening gowns, faced a unique challenge. The company operates six brands, each with its own online portal. Unlike traditional e-commerce portals, these websites serve as a gateway for customer relationships and as a booking point for in-person appointments, linking the online experience with the in-store experience. The challenge was to optimize these experiences and bring them on par with the personalized and exclusive service offered in-store. The online stores required fast and frictionless loading in users’ web browsers. Pronovias Group was looking for a universal solution for all of its brands that would facilitate the daily management of their online presence while allowing them to handle traffic without losing connectivity from anywhere in the world. It was also essential to protect the websites and distinguish between different types of requests to rule out all kinds of attacks.

To address these challenges, Pronovias Group partnered with Onestic, a Fastly partner specializing in the development of e-commerce and security solutions. They migrated Pronovias to a new infrastructure and gradually proceeded with the rest of the brands. Pronovias Group adopted Fastly’s technology for its customization options and the ability to run logic within Varnish, allowing the Pronovias team to organize, manage, and modify the delivery service rules when needed. To protect its endpoints and solve the primary issue of bot traffic, Pronovias adapted Fastly’s Next-Gen WAF. Its rate limiting abilities and filtering enhancements greatly reduced unwanted traffic without harming the performance of the different sites. Two other highlights of Pronovias adopting Fastly’s technology were GeoIP and Image Optimizer. GeoIP allowed tracking the source of each request for fine-tuning the identification of incoming traffic. Image Optimizer transformed images, eliminated latency, and reduced load times, which was crucial for Pronovias Group’s websites where images are taken care of down to the smallest detail.
