Monarch Computer Systems, a direct supplier of computer systems and related products, experienced a significant increase in sales due to the rise of e-commerce in 1999. The company capitalized on over 80,000 discrete web transactions in a single year. However, their existing Sage 50—U.S. Edition system was not equipped to handle this surge in online sales. Monarch needed a software system that could match its business model, provide excellent management reporting, and improve process flow and integrity of the overall information flow.

Monarch adopted Sage 100 ERP, a robust end-to-end solution that manages every aspect of Monarch’s retail and distribution business. The solution is fed by up to 14 databases and includes a rich collection of add-on modules that streamline inventory processing and improve profitability on returned products. The Inventory Management module allows Monarch to manage cash flow proactively by comparing what’s on hand with what’s available, on purchase order, sales order, or backorder. The Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) module has transformed Monarch’s return department from a loss to a profit center by assigning a tracking number to each returned item and monitoring its progress until the customer is ultimately fulfilled. The StarShip module integrates data from Monarch’s business system with its major shipping carrier for seamless record keeping.
