Solution	The hospital decided to completely convert to electronic patient files in 2002. They implemented DocuWare, a Document Management System (DMS), which not only serves as passive background storage but also ensures that if Patidok experiences system problems, they always maintain access to all of their documents. Using DocuWare CONNECT to SAP, scanned information is analyzed automatically using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Freeform recognition and transferred as structured data records to the accounting solution. The DMS also plays a key role in the automated storage of scans and images including the output of video, ultrasound and other equipment, integrating it all into the broad information platform.
