Kiddom, an educational technology platform, experienced rapid growth following the COVID-19 pandemic as remote and hybrid learning models became the norm. The platform, which offers a range of features such as single sign-on, customizable lesson plans, and grade tracking, sought to add video chat and in-platform messaging to its suite of tools. However, building these core functions in-house was deemed difficult, expensive, and time-consuming. The company needed a reliable, scalable, and quick-to-market solution that could handle the increased user base and enhance the communication functionality of the platform.

Kiddom decided to integrate third-party chat and video functionality into their platform. They first explored video chat solutions and chose Dolby’s feature-rich video and audio product, which offers value-added communication functionality such as call recording, screen sharing, and file presentation. Stream’s unique partnership with Dolby led Kiddom to Stream Chat, which checked all of Kiddom’s requirements for a chat product. Kiddom used the React Native SDK from Stream to power in-platform messaging and plans to employ Stream’s recently added features such as profanity moderating blocklists. The integration of Stream was completed in less than a month, providing a reliable and scalable solution for Kiddom’s growing user base.
