Operational Impact
The use of Altair's HyperWorks Suite, solidThinking Compose, and AcuSolve for the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis provided a detailed understanding of the wind conditions on the ground floor of the Quinta Torre. This allowed the architects to identify problem areas with potentially stronger wind and implement counteractive measures in the tower design. The simulation results were validated against the wind tunnel test results and showed a very good correlation. This not only improved the design of the building but also enhanced the comfort of pedestrians and those who use the facilities the building offers.
Quantitative Benefit
Results from the simulation were available five months earlier than with common wind tunnel tests.
The simulation helped the architects to make required adjustments before the final design and construction start of the building, leading to time and cost savings.
