Experian faced several challenges in implementing a people analytics solution. Firstly, they needed to address the workforce data needs of leaders and translate potential value into terms that leaders care about. Secondly, they had to define key metrics and attain global alignment on definitions. Thirdly, engaging HR business partners as business champions and keeping them engaged was crucial. Lastly, they needed to combine data sources from multiple systems and remove the reliance on static lists of data and Excel-based analytics tools. Despite being an analytics company, getting buy-in for a people analytics solution required extensive pre-work to show how workforce analytics could address workforce issues. Sales leaders, in particular, wanted better insights about their employees, and turnover reduction was a significant concern for business leaders.

Experian's journey towards implementing a people analytics solution began with extensive groundwork. Olly Britnell, Head of Global Workforce Analytics, and his team reviewed and streamlined all the data in the company’s management information systems. They mapped the company’s people strategy to its overall business strategy and established a set of 15 to 20 workforce metrics key to the people strategy. The team then worked to get global alignment on these metrics by holding workshops with global HR teams. They built a dashboard of workforce insights for HR leaders and business partners and rolled it out. The analytics team also engaged HR business partners to act as champions for the analytics solution. These champions participated in early pilots and promoted the value of data-driven insights within their regions. Experian chose Visier as their people analytics solution due to its out-of-the-box content and ease of setup. The analytics team conducted a big-bang rollout, providing 400 global HR employees access to Visier simultaneously. They focused on awareness, training, and embedding the solution into daily activities to ensure adoption.
