Operational Impact
The adoption of an Interconnection Oriented Architecture (IOA) strategy has significantly improved DVSA's operational efficiency. The agency has been able to move a lot of services to the public cloud, saving time and money. For instance, the MOT testing service, which handles around 40 million transactions annually, has been moved to the public cloud, on AWS. This shift has eliminated the need for DVSA to maintain its own data centers. The agency is also planning to include cloud-based applications, such as Office 365 and ServiceNow, soon. The interconnection-first approach has laid the foundation to handle future digital transformation needs. The automation feature of the solution allows new areas in the cloud to be available everywhere on the network, to all staff, within seconds.
Quantitative Benefit
Cut latency by two-thirds, providing staff with fast, responsive access to cloud-based platforms.
Reduced time to add new connections from months to hours.
Enabled the agency to switch from one cloud provider to another in minutes to save costs or enable additional services.
