Clarke Phillips Safety Supply Ltd. (CPS) was using an outdated DOS-based system for its financial operations. This system required up to three days to relieve sales from inventory and did not allow employees to view inventory available in other stores. The company recognized that to continue to grow, they would need a more powerful, modern business management solution. The main criteria for the new software were ease of use, intuitive screens, and seamless integration between modules.

Clarke Phillips Safety Supply Ltd. (CPS) is a company based in Ontario, Canada that specializes in the distribution of safety gear and clothing. The company was founded by Clarke Phillips, a Canadian miner who was dissatisfied with the quality of safety gear available and decided to start manufacturing his own. Although CPS stopped manufacturing about 25 years ago, it continues to distribute safety gear to leading mining companies, contractors, and companies in other heavy-duty work environments around the world. Through a sister company called Northwear, CPS also operates two retail stores that carry top-of-the-line ladies’ clothing.

CPS chose Sage 300 as their new business software. Sage 300 is a complete suite of financial and operations modules, making it an end-to-end solution for CPS’s back office. The software automates accounts payable, receivables, ordering, and warehouse operations. It also integrates data from all of CPS's locations, providing real-time inventory visibility. This allows CPS to check stock availability in any of their locations and make transfers when needed. The implementation of Sage 300 was facilitated by a Sage business partner, who helped explain the software and introduced many reporting features.
