Solution	After conducting research on several route optimization solution providers and consulting with experts at Esri, the City of Burnaby chose RouteSmart Technologies to support its optimization project. RouteSmart for ArcGIS was selected for its ability to handle the significant complexities within Burnaby’s unique environment. The implementation process included creating balanced routes, providing them to different solid waste teams, and launching the new system within just five months. The implementation also involved on-site training, software installation, and data clean-up. RouteSmart's dynamic solutions were able to solve complex routing challenges that other tools could not. The City leveraged HERE data designed for RouteSmart, which included a street network with turn-by-turn attributes, restrictions, speed limits, and average travel speeds, to better customize its route planning and avoid time-consuming maneuvers through narrow laneways.
