In Ireland, local regional authorities are not responsible for waste management, and the Irish customers are free to change provider if they are not content with the service. Ciaran Brady, Head of Resource Recovery AES, stated that it is imperative for AES to meet and exceed the service expectations of their customers. Previously, they were not always able to do so. AES handles recyclable, organic, and general waste, keeping approximately 165 vehicles busy with 400-500 collections per route on average. The challenge was to meet the full range of customer service expectations and improve efficiency.

The AMCS platform plays a substantial role in AES's daily operations, from the moment the trucks start in the morning to billing the customers on a monthly basis. AES uses several AMCS solutions, including the Enterprise Management Software (ERP), Route Optimisation, the on-board computer, weighing cells, and units on the back of the truck, as well as reading transponders for lifts to identify customers on the refuse and recyclable collection trucks. The AMCS technology allows AES to schedule trucks on appropriate routes to ensure they lift the correct bins and understand customer issues in terms of recycling. The technology also helps identify and address any contaminated bins to protect margins. The weighing system allows AES to identify any excess weights that may present health and safety challenges for staff. Additionally, the technology enables AES to answer customer queries on the spot by providing real-time information about the trucks' routes and bin collections.

The use of the AMCS Platform boosts staff productivity.
Its integrity and precision reduce the potential for revenue leakage. The optimization is used to make the runs more efficient and cost-effective while freeing up capacity to sign new business.
The on-board computer allows AES to deploy temporary drivers when necessary, guided by the route mapping technology, eliminating the need for route familiarization or training.
AES enjoys service completion rates of 99.6% due to the use of technology.
The fleet has in excess of 60 RCVs on the road, maximizing collection density and ensuring trucks return with greater than 95% of their tonnage capacity.
