Adloox, an ad-verification and insights platform, was facing challenges in delivering timely and in-depth insights to its clients due to its existing infrastructure. The company was dealing with a complex digital landscape where fraudulent traffic, lack of transparency in delivery and reporting, and the ability to track real ROI were among the top challenges. Adloox's platform was designed to address these issues by ensuring ads are viewable, impactful, and delivered in a brand-safe environment. However, the company was processing huge amounts of data, with more than 7 billion fraudulent bid requests avoided every day. Its existing infrastructure, built on dedicated servers, was not scalable enough to handle the increasing data load and traffic peaks. The company was constantly over-provisioning and monitoring its infrastructure to make adjustments, which was time-consuming and costly.

Adloox is a France-based technology company that offers an all-in-one ad-verification and insights platform. The platform provides transparent and granular data, helping advertisers and media agencies to maximize their digital media spend. Adloox's platform measures every supplier, domain, ad placement, and ad unit and then provides objective recommendations to help maximize the performance of campaigns. It also detects and filters out fraudulent traffic, and ensures ads don't appear alongside inappropriate content, such as fake news, by analyzing multiple page elements in real time. The company processes huge amounts of data daily, with more than 7 billion fraudulent bid requests avoided every day.

To overcome these challenges, Adloox decided to migrate its platform to Google Cloud with the help of digital transformation consultant OP-Rate. The migration process involved building a parallel architecture and moving services over load by load, ensuring each load was functioning well in production before moving on to the next. The first stage involved moving its existing data platform over to Google Cloud, optimizing its dataflow pipeline in the process. Its data processing services are now orchestrated with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), using Cloud Load Balancing to deploy in three regions and Compute Engine for additional processing. During the day, data is stored using Cloud Storage, and overnight Adloox uses Dataproc to run its fraud detection algorithms and other calculations. The outputs are then stored back in Cloud Storage, or fed into BigQuery to run client reports, accessed by clients in the Adloox dashboard.

The migration to Google Cloud has significantly improved Adloox's operational efficiency. The company now has a more flexible and reliable infrastructure that can automatically scale to meet demand during peak traffic times. This has eliminated the need for constant over-provisioning and monitoring of its infrastructure. The use of BigQuery has enabled Adloox to provide clients with new and enhanced analysis tools. Clients can now create reports on the platform based on three, six, or twelve months of data in under ten seconds. This has allowed Adloox to deliver insights that previously it wouldn't have had the processing power to calculate, and it's ready almost immediately. The migration has also freed up the team to focus on development, helping them launch the new version of their platform faster.
